Bespoke Creations
Out on Scilly, the sea decides the colours. Here, you get to choose.
At Popplestone Studio, we know fun is in the details. So bring Emma the colours you’ve got in mind, whether it’s for bespoke buttons or a piece of engraved wood.
A lot of her favourite pieces began with someone saying “I don’t suppose you could…”.
Buttons to match a cardigan, a pin for a friend’s birthday, a little artwork that holds a memory of the islands. She makes them by hand in her workshop on Scilly, mixing the colours until they feel right, and every creation is the only one of its kind.
And if wood is more your thing, she engraves chopping boards, door signs, keyrings and Gugh lid jars with your own words, names or island memories.

How it works
1. Tell Emma what you’re after
Get in touch and tell her what you have in mind. A photo of your yarn or the cardigan you want to match is perfect, and so is a scribbled idea or a colour you can only describe as “sort of sea-ish”.
No idea is too small or too odd, and she’s heard plenty of both.
2. Time to play with colours
Emma decides the colours until they feel right and complement your project.
This is the part she loves most, playing around with patterns and shapes, and it’s why nothing she makes ever looks like it came from a shop shelf.
3. Your piece becomes yours
Once it’s made, it’s wrapped up and sent your way, or kept safe for you to collect if you’re popping into the shop.
One small thing worth knowing: Emma can recreate a colour blend and pattern, but every batch of clay has a mind of its own.
This means repeated patterns will be very similar but not identical.
