Description

This blue and purple interactive tile art piece is a Moving Picture made of sixteen clay pieces, set in a four-by-four grid inside a walnut veneer frame that Emma laser cuts in her studio. Deep midnight blue and teal are flecked with violet and plum, while pale aqua lines meander across every piece.

Every piece lifts out. Turn one round or swap it with its neighbour, and the aqua lines will still join up, because Emma designs each piece so its edges connect in any position. That gives you thousands upon thousands of arrangements to play with, and a picture that never has to look the same twice.

Like all of Emma’s art, the pieces are made from tiny tiles of extruded polymer clay, assembled by hand in her studio on St Mary’s. Each picture comes with a solid wood stand, engraved with its name, that holds it at a gentle angle so the pieces stay in place. It’s art you’re actually encouraged to touch.

  • 16 removable clay pieces in a 4 x 4 grid, each 3cm x 3cm
  • Dimensions: 17cm x 17cm
  • Material: polymer clay, extruded into tiny tiles and assembled by hand
  • Frame: walnut veneer, 8mm thick, laser cut by Emma in her studio
  • Stand: solid wood, engraved with the picture’s name, holding it at an angle so the pieces stay in place (designed for a shelf, not a wall)
  • Handmade by Emma in her studio on St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly
  • Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth
  • Handle the pieces with care when rearranging them
